The NEW WAVE ART INITIATIVE by VEVA ART emphasizes the remarkable participation of artists from India’s defense services, celebrating their creativity and resilience. These defense artists, who come from the Indian Air Force, Navy, and Army, play a significant role in the exhibition, which showcases the diverse backgrounds and artistic expressions they bring.
Ms. Navita Vohra, from the defense services, participated in the Delhi workshop. She spoke about how art has become a means of expressing emotions and experiences that words often cannot convey. Being part of this initiative has allowed her to merge her life in the defense services with her passion for art, showing how discipline and creativity can blend to produce something truly impactful.Sanjan Berua, a differently-abled artist from the Veer Naaris community, represents another powerful voice within the exhibition. Sanjan’s participation highlights how this initiative is not only inclusive but also transformative, giving differently-abled individuals a space to share their stories. He expressed gratitude for the platform, as it allows him to express his journey through his artwork and stand alongside other talented defense artists.
Malvika Gour and Jehan Kothari, co-founders of VEVA ART, have played pivotal roles in shaping the Indian art scene through their organization. VEVA ART, under their leadership, has become known for its commitment to promoting Indian art and supporting both established and emerging artists. Their unique approach is rooted in fostering inclusivity, encouraging undiscovered talent, and using art as a means to give back to society.
The inclusion of defense artists, particularly those like Navita and Sanjan, underscores the initiative’s commitment to providing these talented individuals with the opportunity to be recognized for their artistic contributions. Their work will be showcased alongside artists from civil services and other emerging talents, adding a rich layer of personal and professional experiences to the art on display.
The exhibition will have several defense officers and their spouses in attendance, making it a community celebration of both art and service to the nation. This initiative is a powerful testament to the idea that individuals from all walks of life, including those in the armed forces, can excel in creative fields and share their unique stories on a larger stage.
