L F W Collaborates with péro for Fall-Winter 2020
:Lakmé Fashion Week, announces its latest collaboration with péro for the launch of its Fall-Winter 2020 collection titled D I S C O 2020.
The collection Launched as a Fashion Dance Film on péro and L F W Digital Media
Inspiration
From DISCO a genre of dance and sub-culture that emerged in the 1970s from the urban nightlife scene. péro D I S C O2020 is being launched, at a time when we all need something to cheer up, something to make us forget all that is happening around us and break free, exactly what DISCO did in the 1970s by providing an escape from all the social and economic issues. D I S C O 2020 is a party, where the only thing that binds people together is music and dance, and a reason to be happy. A party where everyone can for once forget all that is happening around them and just lose themselves to dance.
Highlights
Inspired from 70’s DISCO fashion while giving it a unique twist. All woollen fabrics in the collection are woven in pure Australian merino, in close association with the weavers of Himachal Pradesh. Apart from hand-woven wool, textiles have also been developed in various other regions of India, like the cotton stripes and checks from West Bengal, mashru stripes from Gujarat and hand-woven silks from Bhagalpur along with mulberry silks from the south of India and light chanderis from Madhya Pradesh.
To complement the geometric patterns of the woven checks and stripes, and to bring in an element of shine and glitter of the DISCO lights, the chequered and floral textiles have been rendered with matt and shiny sequin following the textile patterns. With the help of skilled hand embroiderers, the collection also showcases ornamental needlework that has been rendered with hand-embroidered wool flowers using extensive embroidery techniques and play of sequin to add some shimmer.

Aneeth Arora péro founder &designer
“This season we took inspiration from the 70’s DISCO fashion, we looked at the silhouettes, colours and patterns of the era, be it the retro stripes, the bold checks and also the bright colours like purple, mint and red.DISCO 2020 evokes some sense of culture from which it originates, this culture communicates internationally in such a way that the wearer looks equally at ease in the streets of Paris or London, as she does here in India. The look is not about an age group or season; it is about a mindset, a willingness to incorporate the effortless DISCO style in one’s attire.”

We are happy to collaborate with péro for the launch of their fall-winter collection titled D I S C O. This showcase is a glimpse of what is in store at the upcoming digital edition of Lakmé Fashion Week where we once again push the boundaries of Indian Fashion and look forward to future collaborations with péro.”
This collection also sees some unique collaborations. The first one being with artist and illustrator Nathalie Lété, who especially developed illustrations of animal characters (like a hippo, mouse, rabbit, monkey, and a pig). Nathalie worked with mixing different techniques and mediums to create illustrations, ceramics, textiles, and paintings. The hand-drawn artwork was meticulously embroidered with mixed media like beads, thread, and sequins, and incorporated into the limited-edition range for D I S C O 2020.
péro also collaborated with ‘Grounds’, a Japanese shoe label that has an interesting approach to shoemaking. Instead of forgetting gravity, the label makes the sole a shape suitable for walking and makes the body feel like floating with a highly transparent sole evoking a pleasant change in the relationship of the body with the earth. Combining their cool concept of making the wearer float, with péro’sstrength of handcrafting and upcycling, the collection showcases hand-embroidered shoes with sequin and glitter, fitted lights in transparent soles making them glow in the dark – resulting inthe pair of perfect dancing shoes for D I S C O 2020.
