Filmmaker Dushyant Pratap Singh has been a singer, composer, actor and since the last one year, he has directed two films. His film A Hundred Bucks was released before the lockdown and now he is all set to release another film, Shatranj by the end of this year. The film is produced by Anand Prakash, Mrinalini Singh and Fahim Rustam Qureshi of Anand Motion Pictures, Origin Film Lab and Dushyant Corporation. Dushyant enjoys making films that have challenging roles and is backed by strong content.
He said, “It is important that Bollywood gets its share of concept-driven films along with entertainment. Lately, the online platforms are also seeing suspense thrillers and edge-of-the-seat entertainment for masses. I felt that Shatranj will be a complete package for the masses. It has Hiten Tejwani, Shawar Ali, Kavita Tripathi, Ashutosh Kaushik, Zaid Shaikh, Pankaj Berry and Ekta Jain playing important roles.” M Salim has written the screenplay and dialogue for the film. The film will be shot in Mumbai, Uttar Pradesh and Dubai.
The director has worked on many TV shows and reality shows, and also acted in a TV show. After so many years of experience, he decided to don the hat of a filmmaker. He said, “There is a ray of hope. This year was a big lesson about how other mediums of entertainment made series and films that were equally entertaining. Shatranj is a step in a new direction and has given me the courage to make a film that has global appeal. We have to be in the system to change it. In recent years all Indian film genres have done well, and our films are increasingly respected at international film festivals.“
