Sahitya Kala Parishad along with Delhi Government organized Navsamvatsar Utsav at Chartilal Goel Heritage Park, Chandni Chowk.
The event was started with a lamp lighting ceremony by Ms Harleen Kaur – Additional Commissioner, North Delhi Municipal Corporation, Dr. Monica Priyadarshini – Secretary Sahitya Kala Parishad, District Magistrate, New Delhi, Ms Santosh Sharma – Finance Office from Sahitya Kala Parishad, Dr.Jitram Bhatt – Secretary of Hindi Academy, Delhi, Shri Sanjay Chaddha – Member of General Council of Sahitya Kala Parishad and Shri Rajesh Goel – Deputy Commissioner of MCD along with Guru Malti Shyam.
The Kathak Dance presentation ‘Samanvay’ by Guru Malti Shyam was a tribute to her Guru Padma Vibhushan Pandit Birju Maharaj. This performance depicts how various classical music smoothly merges with the traditional dance of Kathak. Her performance comprised of Dhrupad, Khayal, Thumri and Tarana. The performance started with Dhrupad ‘Shambhav Mahadev, Shambho Mahadev’ in which she pays respect to Lord Shiva. Yamika Mahesh, Shubhi Mishra, Nikita Vats and Sanskriti Pathak accompanied their Guru in this presentation.
The high spirit of the celebration kept the audience on their toes with special attractions of folk dances, the first in line was Jhijhiya nritya by artists from Sahitya Kala Parishad, followed by Assam’s folk dance Bihu. Later, artists performed Mahua nritya from Chattisgarh and the energetic Bhangra and Gidda from Punjab.
By organizing such magnificent programs to celebrate the traditions of India, Sahitya Kala Parishad is ceaselessly striving to make Delhi the Cultural Capital of the country as well.
