The fashion collection showcased by designer Samant Chauhan at Lakmé Fashion Week is described as an ode to the fragile beauty of glaciers, aiming to convey an ethereal allure while delivering a poignant message about the vulnerability of glaciers. The collection strikes a balance between elegance and functionality, drawing inspiration from the serene shades of blue, white, and grey associated with glaciers, interspersed with hints of green and purple. The fabric selection includes Bhagalpur silk, organza, and cotton silks, adding an element of glamour.

Key features

Color  Story

Green and purple accents delicately complement the primary colors, adding to the ethereal aesthetic.

Fabric Story

The collection starts with Bhagalpur silk and gracefully transitions to organza and cotton silks, enhancing the overall elegance.

Silhouettes

Feminine and dreamlike, featuring swirling skirts that float down the runway.

Abstract forms and clever geometric patterns maintain control over the artistic designs.

Extreme beadwork, sequins, pintucks, quilting, ribbon, and hand thread embroidery.

The ensembles are described as wearable art, featuring swirling lines, geometric patterns, and abstract shapes.

The collection is a manifestation of his lifelong preoccupation with snow and glaciers.

The inspiration is abstract yet holds a message about the captivating nature of these natural elements.

 Showstopper

Bollywood’s  Jim Sarbh stopped the very dramatic show in an all-white, layered, look. A regal floor-sweeping, flared, trench coat with fluid, impressive lapels, embellished with tonal embroidery and appliqués was worn over a mandarin collar shirt and white trousers.
