Monisha Jaising’s “The Sailing Bride 2.0”

Her latest collection, The Sailing Bride 2.0, was an ode to the modern resort-wedding bride. Aimed at the woman who dreams of taking her Saat Pheras on the sands or aboard a yacht, Monisha Jaising brought a glamorous yet relaxed aesthetic to Lakmé Fashion Week in partnership with FDCI.

Monisha’s collection drew inspiration from her 2017 showcase aboard a luxury cruise liner, offering breezy silhouettes that combine style and comfort. “This collection reflects the joy of a modern woman, unafraid to spread her wings and embrace her individuality,” she shared.

With metallic shimmer kaftans, high-waisted skirts, and cropped tops adorned with sequins and metallic embroidery, Monisha’s designs provided chic, effortless alternatives to traditional bridal wear. Luxe fabrics like silks, satin chiffon, and organza formed the core of the collection, giving it a refined elegance perfect for beach or yacht weddings. The palette, inspired by the calm of the sea, ranged from soft blues to shimmering metallics.

Timeless Artistry Meets Modern Glamour

Shalini Passi opened the show in a metallic kaftan, while Riddhima Kapoor Sahni closed it in a draped Banarasi-inspired gown. The collection fused traditional craftsmanship with contemporary glamour, showcasing Monisha’s signature effortless style. Both Shalini and Riddhima praised the designer for her understanding of fit, body type, and the easy yet stylish appeal of her resort wear creations.
