A Poignant Call to end Violence against Women
Jigsaw Pictures has released Sisakti Rooh (Sobbing Soul), a powerful 3-minute short film inspired by Sahir Ludhianvi’s stirring nazm. This thought-provoking piece is part of an ongoing initiative to raise awareness about violence against women.
The film premiered on November 27, aligning with the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women observed on November 25. The poster and teaser were unveiled on the 25th, building anticipation for this impactful project.
A Grim Reality That Demands Action
Sisakti Rooh delivers a heart-wrenching message against the widespread brutality endured by women globally. Its release follows the recent sexual assault of a lady doctor at RG Kar Hospital in Kolkata, a case that outraged the nation. This incident, like the Nirbhaya Case, the Hathras Case, and many others, underscores the continuing cycle of violence that victimizes women across all walks of life.
As headlines fade, the heinous reality persists. Sisakti Rooh seeks to keep this conversation alive, serving as a powerful reminder of the need for societal change. It is a call to action, urging humanity to honor, respect, and protect women everywhere.
A Vision Rooted in Purpose
“This film was born out of the need to create a message that resonates deeply with both women and the men who value and support them,” said Rajnish Lall, Founder and Producer of Jigsaw Pictures.
Lall highlighted the collaborative effort behind the film, praising Abdulla Saleem, the director, for his sensitivity and understanding of the subject.
“We urge everyone to join this campaign by sharing the film on social media and sparking conversations about the importance of ending violence against women. Together, let’s amplify this message and inspire a generation to act against brutality,” Lall added.
A Labor of Love and Commitment
Sisakti Rooh was brought to life through the dedication of its cast and crew, all of whom volunteered their time and effort. Their generosity enabled the production to donate all costs to a women’s destitute home, further supporting the well-being of survivors.
This project not only aims to raise awareness but also underscores the role of art in driving social change. Jigsaw Pictures hopes the film sparks meaningful dialogue and collective action toward a safer, more respectful world for women.
Sisakti Rooh is more than a film—it’s a call to humanity to recognize the inherent dignity of every woman and to stand united against brutality. Watch, share, and be part of the change.
