A Greener Future at Four Seasons Maldives

Project 100 Coconut Trees

This month, Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Kuda Huraa proudly celebrates the completion of Project 100 Coconut Trees, an initiative that has transformed the resort’s landscape with 100 newly planted coconut trees. This project enhances the natural beauty of the resort while strengthening its commitment to sustainability as part of the For Good program.

Sustainable Beauty with a Purpose

The coconut trees—ranging from vibrant Chowghat Orange Dwarf to resilient Malayan Green Dwarf and high-yielding Gangabondam Hybrid varieties—now thrive across Sunset Beach, Sunrise Beach, Reef Island, The Island Spa, and the staff area. Each tree absorbs up to 25 kilograms of CO2 annually, contributing to a reduction of approximately 2,500 kilograms in yearly carbon emissions. Beyond environmental benefits, these trees provide natural shade, cooling, and additional privacy for guests.

Project 100 Coconut Trees embodies our dedication to creating a harmonious environment for both guests and the planet,” shares Didier Jardin, General Manager of the resort. “With these trees now part of our landscape, we’re enriching the island’s beauty while making strides toward a sustainable future.

Initiatives Rooted in Community and Conservation

Aligned with the Four Seasons For Good initiative, which emphasizes caring for both the Planet and People, Project 100 Coconut Trees is one of many impactful endeavors at Kuda Huraa. From coral reef restoration and sea turtle rehabilitation to hospitality apprenticeships for Maldivian youth and flourishing herb and vegetable gardens, the resort prioritizes projects that positively influence the environment and local communities. Part of this dedication to accountability is reflected in the resort’s annual EarthCheck assessments, with Kuda Huraa achieving the EarthCheck Silver award in 2024.

Through Project 100 Coconut Trees and similar initiatives, Four Seasons Kuda Huraa continues to elevate eco-conscious luxury, fostering an environment where nature and hospitality thrive side by side.
