Recently, I had met the star cast of Last World War at Le Meridien, New Delhi. This film, produced by Hiphop Tamizha, is set to make its Hindi debut soon on October 4th. Originally titled Kadaisi Ulaga Por, the film premiered on September 20 and received a range of responses, drawing viewers into its compelling narrative. Set in the year 2028, the story unravels the tensions of a war in India, sparked by a refusal to form an alliance with a neighboring country.

Hiphop Tamizha Adhi, the creative force behind the film, takes on multiple roles as the director, producer, composer, and writer. Known for his upbeat and light-hearted entertainers, Adhi is making a significant shift by delving into a more serious theme with Last World War. He plays a pivotal role in the film. In our conversation, he shared that his deep love for art inspired him to create this thought-provoking film. Aadhi expressed surprise at the film’s warm reception and its evolution into a pan-India release. The film delves into the harsh realities of war, exploring the idea that conflict isn’t the only solution. Set in 2028, it tells the story of how humanity often fights despite having everything, only to find unity in the aftermath of destruction. Aadhi’s vision encourages viewers to reflect on the importance of peace and harmony in today’s world.

“The film explores the harsh realities of conflict, challenging the commonly held belief that war is the sole solution to disputes. It presents a poignant narrative that encourages viewers to consider the importance of harmony and understanding”. Adhi shares.

The plot reveals a profound truth: despite having everything, humanity often resorts to conflict, only to find unity in the aftermath of devastation. This powerful message rings true today, as it emphasizes that genuine happiness stems from living peacefully rather than in strife.

I was quite impressed by Natarajan Subramaniam, known as Natty. His journey from cinematographer to actor highlights his passion for storytelling. Natty expressed his astonishment at Aadhi’s decision to tackle such a serious subject, given Aadhi’s vibrant background in music and youthful persona.

Anagha Maruthora, also joined the conversation. With a B.Tech degree and an M.Tech to her name, Anagha has made a mark in both Malayalam and Tamil cinema. She made her debut with Rakshadhikari Baiju Oppu (2017) and won the SIIMA Best Debutant Tamil Actress award for her performance in Natpe Thunai (2019). Anagha spoke passionately about her journey in the film industry, realizing that film is her true calling, and how much she enjoys the craft.

The film features a robust ensemble cast, including veteran actor Nassar and talented individuals like Harish Uthaman and N. Alagan Perumal, all contributing to its rich narrative. Last World War has already seen success in Tamil Nadu and is poised to engage audiences across North India with its unique backdrop and thought-provoking message. As it prepares for its Hindi release, this film is shaping up to be a significant addition to contemporary cinema, inviting viewers to reflect on the cost of conflict and the importance of peace.
