‘Rangapravesham’ – by Aadya Gupta
Rangapravesham, meaning “ascending the stage” in Sanskrit, signifies a pivotal transition for a Kuchipudi dancer from student to performer. This significant event showcases the dancer’s deep mastery of the art form, blending expressive nuances with intricate rhythms and a harmonious mix of grace and vigor.
Aadya Gupta celebrated her solo debut after 14 years of dedicated training under the esteemed Gurus, Drs. Raja Radha Reddy and Guru Kaushalya Reddy, recipients of the Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri awards. Since the age of five, Aadya has been a devoted student at Natya Tarangini, where the institute has been instrumental in her growth as a dancer and an individual.
The event was honored by the presence of distinguished guests including Mr. K L Ganju, Neelam Pratap Rudy, Dr. Geeta Grewal, Atisha Pratap Singh, Mr. Kamal Modi, Divya Chauhan, Madhavi Reddy, Sonal Vig, Anupama Dayal, and Ritu Soni Bhagat, among others.
Aadya, who has balanced her schooling at Modern School Barakhamba Road with her current studies in Politics, Government, and International Relations at SciencesPo, Paris, has utilized various platforms to showcase her dance skills over the past 18 years. She expressed deep gratitude for reaching this milestone in her Kuchipudi journey.
Starting as an introverted child, Aadya’s transformation into a performer is attributed to her Gurus’ passion, technical precision, and rigorous discipline. Their guidance enabled her to perform on prestigious stages across India.
With the completion of her Rangapravesham and the support of family and friends, Aadya aims to achieve new heights in her dance career with renewed dedication.
