Frequently asked questions answered by the Pioneer of Herbal Beauty
1. After applying oil, my hair falls. What should I do?
If your hair is oily, avoid oil applications. Also, avoid massage. The roots may be weak and massage will cause more hair to fall out. Apply a non-oily herbal hair tonic daily on the scalp and leave it on. For normal hair, apply oil once a week at night and leave on overnight. Have a small bowl of sprouts daily and include fresh fruits, leafy green vegetables, soyabean, curd in your diet. Ask your doctor to prescribe vitamin and mineral supplements.
2. Tell me a home recipe to keep my face bright. I have black pimple marks on my face.
If there are no pimples now, use a facial scrub once or twice a week. You can buy a facial scrub, or you can mix rice powder with curd. Add a pinch of turmeric and apply on the face. Rub gently with small circular movements, especially on the areas with black marks. Leave on for a few minutes and wash off with plenty of water. Mix multani mitti with rose water and lemon juice into a paste and apply on the face two or three times a week, avoiding the lips and area around eyes. Wash it off when it is dry. If there is dryness, apply aloe vera gel or juice daily and wash it off after 15 minutes.
3. To get shining hair, can we use lemon tea bags directly after shampoo?
Use the juice of a lemon and not lemon tea bags. Boil used tea leaves again in enough water. Cool and strain it. Then add the juice of a lemon and use it as a last rinse after shampoo. If you wish, you can steep a tea bag in hot water to get the “tea-water.” You should have 6 cups of tea-water. Allow to cool and then add the juice of a lemon. Use it as a last rinse after shampoo.
4. I am engaged. I want to know how to select foundation.
For make-up, the main items you will need are foundation in two shades. For dry skin, select a creamy foundation and for oily skin, you need a water based foundation. One foundation should be close to your normal skin colour and the other one should be one or two shades lighter, to conceal dark blemishes, like marks or patches. Or, you can use a concealer, instead of light foundation.
