Frequently asked questions answered by the Beauty Icon
Q1. 31 years old, mother of 2 kids. I have a lot of stretch marks on my abdomen. Please advise some home remedies.
Stretch marks form due to loss of skin elasticity. They may fade with time, but never disappear totally. However, you can apply til oil and massage it daily on the abdomen, using large circular movements. You can also mix besan with curd and a little haldi. Apply on the area thrice a week and wash it off after 30 minutes.
Q2. My hair is healthy, but limp and has no body. How do I give body, bounce and shine to my hair?
Pay attention to diet. Applying egg or yogurt half an hour before shampoo helps to add body and bounce to the hair. For body and shine, you can try beer, or tea and lemon, as a last rinse after washing the hair. It is said to add body. Make tea rinse by boiling used tea leaves again in enough water. Cool, strain and add the juice of a lemon.
Q3. I have frizzy hair and its very difficult to handle. Is there any way of controlling the frizz?
Take 2 drops of olive oil, til oil, or sunflower oil. Put it on your palms and rub the palms lightly together, so that the oil spreads over both palms. Smooth the palms over the hair. Or, take the ends of the hair in your palms and scrunch them. Leave the oil on. Or, mix some water with creamy hair conditioner and put it in a spray bottle. Spray the mixture on the hair. Then comb the hair, so that it spreads through the hair.
Q4. My face is very dull. I also have thick hair on my chin and sides of the face, on my hands and legs.
To brighten the skin a facial scrub will help. You can either buy a facial scrub or you can mix rice powder with yogurt and a pinch of turmeric and use it as a facial scrub. Apply on the face and rub gently on the skin using small circular movements. Leave on for 5 minutes and then wash off with water. For facial hair, you can have a combination of threading for chin and waxing for sides of the face. For the body, waxing is the best hair removal method. Waxing helps to discourage hair growth and with time, the growth becomes less. It is best to have waxing and threading done at a beauty salon.
