The main problem during summer is how to look and feel cool, fresh and fragrant. Bathing and scrubbing help to clear away germs and odour. A bath is soothing and relaxing and yet, it helps to refresh and revive. Apart from inducing relaxation, baths also impart a clean and cool feeling.
Fragrant pre-bath massage oils can help. So do body scrubs. They remove dead skin cells and impart a fresh feeling. Mix sesame seeds (til), dried mint leaves, dried rose petals and curd. Rose water can also be added to bath water. Or add 2 or 3 drops of Rose essential oil to a bucket of bath water. Rose calms the mind.
If you can have a tub bath, add bath salts, which have many beneficial effects. To make your own bath salts at home add two tablespoons of salt crystals to the bath water, along with an essential oil of flowers like rose, lavender, geranium, neroli (orange flower) or jasmine. Add 5 drops of any one essential oil to pure olive oil and then add it to the water along with the salts.
Your bath or shower water should be cool in summer. Give your body a scrub with a loofah or sponge. This helps to stimulate the skin and remove dead cells. An ideal way of using natural ingredients while having a luxury bath is to tie ingredients in a clean cloth, wet slightly and then rub the cloth bag on the skin.
