Celebrating Cultural Connections

A Night of Literature and Art at Lokayata Art Gallery, Hauz Khas

On the evening of October 4th, the Embassy of Romania in New Delhi warmly welcomed guests to Lokayata Art Gallery in Hauz Khas for a delightful cultural celebration that intertwined the realms of literature and visual arts. It was an occasion filled with creativity, connection, and the joy of shared experiences among diplomats, writers, photographers, and art lovers.

The night began with a heartfelt launch of Twilight Chronicles – A Journey through India, Nepal, and Sri Lanka, a captivating book by Daniela Sezonov-Tane, the Romanian Ambassador to India, Nepal, and Bangladesh. Through her eloquent words, Daniela invited us into her personal journey across South Asia, beautifully capturing the diverse cultures and landscapes that define this vibrant region.

Adding to the evening’s significance, Smt. Meenakshi Lekhi, the Former Minister of State for External Affairs and Culture, graced the occasion as the Guest of Honor, sharing her own reflections on the importance of cultural exchange. A lively panel discussion followed, featuring insights from Rajiv Dogra, Former Ambassador of India to Romania and Italy, and writer, along with Subhajit Roy, the Diplomatic Editor at The Indian Express. Their engaging dialogue sparked thought-provoking conversations that resonated with the audience.

After the book launch, attendees were invited to immerse themselves in the Whispers of India photo exhibition, a collaborative project by Consul of Romania Paul Sezonov and Daniela Sezonov-Tane. This stunning collection of photographs captured the beauty and vibrancy of everyday life in India, offering a window into the heart of the country’s rich culture through the eyes of talented photographers.

Dr. Bhupesh Chandra Little, Head of the Department of Applied Art at Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, enriched the experience with his insights into the art of photography, shedding light on the nuances that make each image special. Under the thoughtful curation of Jenya Verma, Director at Lokayata Art Gallery, the exhibition showcased a deep appreciation for the cultural narratives and stories woven throughout the works.

An unforgettable evening that reminded us of all of the power of art and literature to bridge cultures and foster understanding.
