I was recently invited to experience Dilli 6 – Dahleej-e-Dilli at Crowne Plaza Today New Delhi Okhla, and it was an evening that fully immersed me in the essence of Old Delhi. The festival seamlessly brought the vibrant flavors, rich history, and cultural ambiance of Purani Dilli to life, offering an unforgettable culinary journey.
The food was nothing short of exceptional. From the tangy Matar Kulche to the indulgent Paneer Changezi Paratha, each dish captured the true spirit of Delhi’s diverse food culture. The Mutton Nihari, slow-cooked to perfection, and the hearty Haleem stood out as standout offerings. The experience wouldn’t have been complete without sampling the fragrant Zarda Chawal and the creamy, rich Kulfi for dessert, which rounded off the meal beautifully. To complement these flavors, a refreshing glass of Masala Chaas added the perfect touch.
What made the evening even more special was the live Sufi gazals that filled the air, adding a soulful soundtrack to the already mesmerizing experience. The powerful melodies and poetic lyrics of the Sufi music transported me deeper into the heart of Delhi’s rich cultural heritage, elevating the entire experience beyond just food and ambiance.
The festival’s ambiance was equally captivating. The intricate decor and vibrant food stalls created an atmosphere reminiscent of the bustling streets of Chandni Chowk, where every corner echoed with the charm of Delhi’s historic bazaars. The aroma of sizzling kebabs in the air only added to the authenticity of the experience, making it a truly immersive journey into the heart of the city.
Held at Crowne Plaza Today New Delhi Okhla, Dilli 6 – Dahleej-e-Dilli was a celebration of Delhi’s culinary legacy and a tribute to its timeless traditions.
