Interview with Accessory/Fashion Designer Felix Bendish

Felix Bendish is a Mumbai Based fashion & accessory designer who  creates singular and unique fashion accessories and high fashion clothing.-

Excerpts from an interview…

Felix Bendish

How did you get into this field?

Well, it comes down to my family history. My grand uncle was a costume designer from the epic movie Mughal-e-azam .I guess I got it from him. Apart from this I was always inspired by clothing, innovation, colors, sketches and fabrics

What’s your design philosophy?

My design philosophy is to experiment in creating and executing new ideas. As a designer its my job to get something new on the table. It could be creating new textures in fabrics, embroideries, playing with season colors or more.

Comfort and pricing plays key in this global market……

Your concepts are so different …How do you work on your concepts?

Concepts can be different, if you understand the pulse of the market. Its very important to do good research, trends and requirements before you start creating a new collection

Fashion is changing. Designers are trying sustainable and organic fashion……

My love for embroideries is clearly visible in my accessory products. I have been very creative in crafting hand embroideries onto quirky necklaces, brooches, bags and so on.

I strongly feel that the need of the hour is creative comfortable clothing.

Keeping that in mind, I have now gone into digital prints.

I have printed all my accessories onto fabrics that give an impression or illusion of a 3d effect.

What is Style according to you?

Style- style is something where the wearer must know its body type first.

. If he/she/gender neutral could comfortably carry the outfit with confidence along with the right accessory …then vola! One should create their own identity and make a statement!!!!

Fashion faux pas

Getting overdressed or a wrong choice of fabrics/colours /silhouettes could be a big no no…..but there is always room for improvement. Fashion is yes/ no/ maybe

Five essential must have-

a- Neon or pop colours in accessory or clothing that makes ur happy

b- Denim jackets in faded or distress looks

c- White pristine shirt with a little pop of colour in buttons or lace trims.

d-Crop tops or cut -out dresses

e-Organic fabrics in shimmer and shine

Future plans

I am very focused on value for money, ready to wear collection clothing and accessories in my quirky style. Pricing and Quality is key.  I recently opened my first flagship store in Bandra- Mumbai.

Recently he launched a collection titled “Oceanology“

 About the Collection

My inspiration is taken from the  calmness and magnificence of the  oceans. Existing since prehistoric times, ever-changing, vast and strong enough not to be destroyed completely – even by Man’s follies. With its dancing waves, its waters  moving with the rhythm of  beautiful aquatic creatures, sea horses, vibrant corals , octopus and shells , this collection is all about FORGIVENESS AND RESURGENCE…..like the ebb and flow of tides….Oceans.

Our signature style is hand embroidered in  quirky Accessories ,brilliantly playing with lots of textures and then the same concept is digitally printed to create an illusion .Fabrics play is dupion silk, cottons and chamois.

It’s now time to surge forward and have fun doing so with a bit of whimsy and lots of pop and neon colours.
