Grooming Trends for 2023

By Shahnaz Husain

Every year we wonder what the new beauty and grooming trends will be and we hope they give our looks a boost! Experts are predicting a minimalistic trend for make-up and grooming. Perhaps, heavy eye make-up will be a thing of the past. Heavy matte make-up foundations are already going out of favour. Instead, tinted primers, moisturisers and serums are being used, due to the minimal make-up trend. It also seems that French Manicure may be back. But, instead of the long white tips for nails, the minimalist trend may take over and a narrow tip of colour may become the new trend. 2023 will give a fresh look to make-up and grooming.

Due to the hangover of the pandemic, people have become so much more aware of their good health and fitness.  As a result, the demand for organic cosmetics has increased, because they are environment friendly and also safe for our skin and hair care. In other words, “green cosmetics” will be even more popular.  The popularity and demand for organic and herbal beauty care will increase during 2023.

The skin’s pH balance and normal oil-moisture barrier are very important for the good health of the skin. Therefore, products that are gentle on the skin will be trending during 2023. People are already aware that they should use skin and hair care products that are free from parabens, sulfates and mineral oil. They will move away from chemical or acid peel treatments, to plant and organic ingredients. Beauty care kits will be popular online that people can easily follow at home with 5 steps or 7 step facial skin care kits. An increasing rise in the use and sale of sunscreens, sun block products and protective creams are also predicted.

Where hairstyles are concerned, fringes and side fringes were popular, but now fringes will be getting shorter. Experts are referring to them as “micro bangs.” They will be just an inch or two from the forehead, but you can try different trends, like cutting them straight across or have a choppy texture. The prediction for 2023 is that putting up the hair will become popular, into top knots, buns or chignons. The spiky bun may also be the trend, with curls and ringlets framing the face. New Trends are also expected for hair colour. Mixing two colours will become popular. Hairstylists are suggesting that one should keep a strong base colour and have streaks or “pop ups” of a lighter tone throughout.

So, for 2023, avoid peels and invasive treatments and go for organic beauty care and grooming.
