8th July-25th July at Art Magnum, New Delhi
Jai Khanna’s works take viewers on an inward trail of enlightenment, inviting them to delve deep into their hearts. “The Inward Trails” is a journey of self-discovery for the artist, stemming from his personal calling that drew him to the peaceful and perfect realm of life. His exploration of Jainism and its message of living and letting live (Ahimsa) is reflected in his art. He believes in a higher self or soul endowed with the properties of Siddha (complete), Buddha (perfect), and Mukti (liberated Self).
Jai Khanna’s tranquil depictions of the Tirthankaras inspire introspection, urging viewers to uncover these properties within themselves and inch closer to answering the question, “Who am I?” His deep spiritual connection with Jainism is evident through several soul-stirring cameos showcased in the exhibition.
The artist shares, “I paint what I envision in my dreams. My art emerges from dreams that take me through deep jungles and high mountains where my gurus reside. These surreal trysts compel me to link nature with faith.”
The symbolism of the serpent hood on Tirthankara Parsvanatha in Jai Khanna’s art confirms the perfect state of the soul. It signifies the power and strength of the soul in the face of calamity, debunking the myth about the interdependence of the soul and karma, a concept central to Jain philosophy.
Saurabh Singhvi, Director of Art Magnum, remarks, “For me, Jai is a spiritual seeker whose art compels you to question your existence. The answers are provided within his art itself.”
