Mohit Chauhan who completes 25-years of musical journey in Bollywood, which started with the release of his first musical album in 1998 ‘Boondein’, was released by Shri Kiren Rijiju ji, Union Minister of Earth Sciences. Smt Meenakshi Lekhi, Minister of State for External Affairs and Culture was the Guest of Honor. ‘Musafir’ the new Music Album released under Mohit Chauhan Music is his 5th studio album.
Smt Meenakshi Lekhi said “the two countries share friendly relations for centuries. People remember Mongolia for Genghis Khan but despite being a warrior he never attacked India for the friendship the two countries shared. The song released today will be etched in the memory of people which will continue to be sung even beyond our times.”
Mohit Chauhan while talking about the making of the song remembered how in 2019 he travelled with the Indian delegation carrying the relics of Lord Buddha. He went on to add “soon people will hear 6 songs with Mongolian collaboration which were recorded in Ulan Batar and Delhi at his Silk Route Studio. He wished Peace and Love to All especially people in Mongolia as they celebrate their New Year Tsagaan Sar.”
The album ‘Musafir’ has 10 songs. The first of the song was released today on Losar which is the beginning of New Year in Mongolia. It is a gift from the celebrated singer and marks the celebration of 69 years of friendship which completes 70 years in 2025. The song released today is called ‘Duur’.
‘Musafir’ the new Music Album was released at an event which was attended by important dignitaries – H. E Shri Dambajavyn Ganbold, Mongolian Ambassador, Shri M P Singh, Former Ambassador of India to Mongolia and Ms Kanchan Prasad, DG Doordarshan.
Mohit Chauhan is currently the Cultural Envoy of Mongolia to India. Mohit Chauhan a singer, song writer, musician and composer is a recipient of over 35 national and international awards including Daf Bama for best playback singing and international act, three Filmfare, two Guild award, two GIMA, three Zee Cine, one IIFA and one Screen among others. In 2012, Forbes India magazine declared him 81st on its 2012 celebrity 100 list.
He continues to document, perform and promote folk music and culture of the Himalayas. He is Patron of Kathakar International Storytellers festival which is being organized every year in Delhi since 2010. Mohit Chauhan is credited to have brought back folk music to the commercial scene. In his 25-year long journey in music he is credited to have sung over 300 songs in Bollywood and regional cinema which includes Tamil, Kannada, Telugu, Marathi, Gujarati, Konkani, Punjabi, Himachali, English and Bengali. He is credited to have brought out 5 music albums out of which two are part of the band Silk Route as one of its Founder members and three as solo albums. He rendered his voice apart from writing lyrics and composing numerous jingles for radio, television and digital platforms.
