Her latest collection, Hẽpah..The Desire, beautifully captured the essence of longing and desire, drawing inspiration from the vibrant culture of Assam. Showcased at Lakmé Fashion Week in partnership with FDCI, Sanjukta Dutta brought Assamese silks to the forefront, transforming them into a variety of elegant and contemporary ensembles.
A Palette Rooted in Beige
At the heart of the collection was the calming simplicity of beige, a tone that Sanjukta felt perfectly embodied the quiet elegance she sought to convey. While the designs were crafted in a spectrum of vivid colors, beige served as the grounding hue, adding a sense of balance and grace.

Traditional and Modern Silhouettes
The collection featured a harmonious blend of traditional and modern silhouettes, from a striped bustier paired with a draped skirt to a dramatic strapless choli adorned with a striking 3D rosette. A ruffled floral dupatta added a playful twist to the classic lehenga-choli duo, while a bolero over a bustier styled with a tulip maxi skirt brought a contemporary flair. Sanjukta’s beloved Mekhela Chador took center stage in all its timeless glory.

Sangeeta Bijlani, the eternal Bollywood icon, closed the show as the radiant showstopper, gliding down the runway in a flame-red silk Mekhela Chador with intricate detailing. Her sleeveless choli featured a bold keyhole accent, adding a modern touch to the traditional ensemble.
“This collection is very close to my heart,” shared Sanjukta. “Through Hẽpah..The Desire, I aim to celebrate handlooms and create outfits that are both beautiful and steeped in tradition.”
