There is so much hair damage nowadays, thanks to trends, like dyeing, colouring, straightening and so on. Hair colouring has become a matter of style too. But, a word of warning! However glamorous it may look, repeated hair colouring and dyeing can cause a lot of hair damage. So, before going in for colouring, it is essential to how chemical colours affect the hair. Also, find out how you can limit the damage.
Permanent dyes and colours work by changing the structure of the hair. They actually strip off the outermost layer, the cuticle, in an uneven manner, in order to penetrate the inner layer. Damage to the cuticle not only makes the hair vulnerable to breakage and loss, but also becomes dull and rough. Semi permanent methods, like hair rinses and creams, last for 4 to 6 shampoos. They do not cause as much damage as the permanent dyes. Here, I wish to point out that colouring the hair a lighter colour means bleaching the hair first and then colouring it. Therefore, there is double damage.
Hair colours and dyes wear off…..which means the procedure has to be repeated from time to time and the more you colour, the more damage there will be. So, instead of colouring the entire hair, one can keep to frosting or streaking, in order to limit the damage. A few streaks of colour can also save the rest of the hair from damage and yet, give you a new and glamorous look. You could have about four streaks in front, which means that some strands in front are coloured. This can really look attractive. Do not have your hair coloured and straightened at the same time. Wait for at least six weeks between the two procedures. We have formulated a natural hair colour that is 100% free from chemicals and contains natural hair colourants like henna, indigo and catechu.
If you have been following a healthy diet and lifestyle, you will find it much easier to cope with age-related changes. Good health and fitness have many benefits where appearance is concerned. Along with exercise, adopt a healthy eating pattern, with an emphasis on fresh fruits, unrefined cereals, salads, sprouts, lightly cooked vegetables, yogurt and skimmed milk, clear soups, and fresh fruit juices. Your diet should be low in fats, sugar and starch, but high in vitamins and minerals. This kind of diet will raise your level of fitness and also help your skin and hair.
