At Lakmé Fashion Week x FDCI, South Indian actress Shriya Saran captured the spotlight as the showstopper for Payal Singhal’s Tazhib collection, celebrating 25 years of the designer’s creative journey. Inspired by the art of gilding, the collection seamlessly merged Mughal aesthetics with modern sophistication.
Shriya embodied regal elegance in an ivory organza anarkali kurta, beautifully embellished with gold sequins. The anarkali’s flowing ghera, enhanced by solitaire studs, formed voluminous kalis, while diamond-studded hems and a finely embroidered gold floral bodice elevated the ensemble’s grandeur. The churidar, detailed with gold and diamond embellishments near the ankles, completed the ethereal look.
Payal Singhal’s Tazhib collection reinterpreted Mughal artistry through contemporary silhouettes, featuring deconstructed anarkalis, backless corset cholis, ruffle lehengas, and kalidar shararas. Crafted from luxurious fabrics like organza and velvet, each piece exuded a modern, yet timeless elegance, all bathed in gilded gold to pay homage to Mughal craftsmanship.
A Dance of Grace and Music
Shriya’s mesmerizing performance on the runway was a highlight of the evening. As she twirled gracefully in the regal ensemble, her Kathak-inspired dance movements added an extra layer of enchantment. The magic was further heightened by the soulful voice of Vidya Vox, who sang In Aakhon Ki Masti. The synergy between the dance and live music created a magical atmosphere, perfectly complementing the exquisite craftsmanship of Payal Singhal’s collection.
A Celebration of Tradition and Modernity
Shriya Saran’s showstopping appearance added an undeniable allure to Payal Singhal’s Tazhib collection. The collection, with its blend of Mughal tradition and modern elegance, and Shriya’s graceful performance, underscored the timeless appeal of artistry and craftsmanship. With Vidya Vox’s soulful voice setting the tone, the show was a memorable celebration of heritage and innovation.
